    Fruit: German Plum Cake [Pflaumenkuchen]

    1 cup flour
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    6 Tab sugar
    Sift together and cut in1/4 cup shortening until it resembles cornmeal

    Stir in 1 large egg beaten in 1/4 cup milk...mix well
    Spread in greased 8 by 12 by 2 baking pan and top with plums. I use the Italian purple prune plums...make sure they are ripe...wash and cut in half...if large cut in quarters...arrange plums cut- side down in rows.
    Top with mixture of 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg and 4 Tab. sugar...sprinkle on top of plums and drizzle with 3 Tab. melted butter....
    Bake for 35 minute at 400 degrees
