    6 strips bacon
    3 lbs. round steak, cut in 1 1/2 inch cubes
    1 lg. carrots, sliced
    1 med. onion, sliced
    3 tbsp. flour
    1 (10 oz.) can condensed beef broth
    1 tbsp. tomato paste
    2 cloves garlic
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 lb. small white onions
    2 tbsp. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 1/2 tsp. thyme
    1 lb. mushrooms
    1/2 c. burgundy wine

    Brown bacon, drain. Brown beef in bacon fat remove and brown carrots and onions. Put in crockpot and sprinkle with salt and pepper and other seasonings. Stir 3 tablespoons flour into broth and tomato paste. Pour over meat. Simmer 8 to 10 hours in crockpot 1 hour before serving add 1/2 cup wine. Before serving mix 2 tablespoon butter and 1/4 cup flour form into pea sized balls, drop into gravy to thicken. Saute mushrooms in butter for garnish. Serve with noodles, pasta or rice.
