    Recipe Introduction

Years ago when I worked in downtown St. Louis, one of my favorite restaurants was Miss Hullings. I would meet my friends and co-workers there before work for breakfast, and days when I was "flush" or on special occasions we would have lunch there. My all-time favorite was Sour Cream Noodle Bake (and I still make it alot at home).for over 50 years Florence Hulling prepared excellent food with loving care...thousands ate at her cafeterias each week in St. Louis...the Clayton restaurant was a charming showcase for artifacts from all periods of history and reflected her love of flowers...the format was more formal and entrees included a choice of vegetable or potato, homemade hearth bread and salad.. in 1977 the Roast Leg of Lamb, a most delicate treat with mint jelly, cost $5.95

    List of Ingredients

    8-oz. pkg. medium noodles
    1 lb. ground beef (lean)
    1 T. butter
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 C. tomato sauce or puree
    1 C. creamed cottage cheese
    1 C. sour cream
    1 C. chopped green onions
1 C. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

    Recipe

Cook noodles in boiling salted water. Rinse in cold water and drain. Brown meat in butter, then add salt, pepper, garlic salt and tomato sauce. Simmer five minutes. Combine cottage cheese, sour cream, chopped onions and noodles. Alternate layers of noodle mixture and meat mixture in 2-quart casserole, beginning with noodles and ending with meat. Top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until cheese is melted and browned. Serves 8.
