    for years, St. Louis Post Dispatch readers chuckled and guffawed over Elaine Viet's weekly columns in the Everyday section....her stories featured common people , events, urban tales and always with a twist of humor...her neighborhood, the Southside of St. Louis, was often fodder for a laugh. Whatever the subject, most readers could identify with her viewpoint... never an admitted cook, she shares this simple but delicious....

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb. button mushrooms, wiped clean and thinly sliced
    juice of 1/2 lemon
    1 1/2 cups peanut oil
    2 Tab Dijon Mustard
    4 Tab White Vinegar
    3 Tab fresh chopped chives or green onion tops or 1 Tab dried chives


    Recipe

    in a large bowl, sprinkle lemon juice on
    mushrooms...combine rest of ingredients and pour over and chill for at least an hr before serving
