Recipe Introduction

Betty Hearnes, former first lady of our first two term Missouri governor, is a great cook. Here are some of her recipes. 2 pkgs. Brussel sprouts (cook in salt water as per instructions on pkg.)
2 cans Monarch onions
1 small size can button mushrooms

Drain the above in colander. Make a white sauce, add:
1 cup grated cheese
1/2 jalapeno pepper
Dash of Tabasco sauce
Black pepper
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Mix in sauce and spread over brussel sprouts, onions, and mushrooms.
Spread slices of bread with Hellmann's mayonnaise; cut into cubes and place on top



Frozen tortillas, made with four, thawed

Dip tortillas in chicken broth; line baking dish like pie crust. Mix all other ingredients (reserve some cheese mixed with some of the soup for topping). Place over tortillas. Place reserved cheese on top. Bake 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
