    1 1/4 cups milk
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 Tab. butter
    1/2 envelope active dry yeast
    1 Tablespoon lukewarm water
    2 3/4 cup flour, divided
    1 1/2 cups shredded American cheese
    Melted butter

    Heat milk in a small pot just until bubbles start to form around the edges...add sugar, salt and 1/2 Tab butter...let cool to lukewarm...add yeast , let sit a few minutes; stir then add to milk mixture...add 2 cups flour, mix well, add cheese and remaining 3/4 cup flour...mix again...knead on a floured board for 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic...Place dough in a greased bowl. Brush with melted butter and cover...let rise in a warm place until double in bulk...knead dough briefly, shape into a loaf and place in a greased 4x8 loaf pan...brush with butter...cover with clean towel; let rise until double in bulk...preheat oven to 375 degrees...Bake bread for 50 minutes or until done...serves 8
