6 russet potatoes, peeled and cut up. Put in a sauce pan and cover with water , add a few shakes of salt and bring to a boil, cook about 20 minutes until tender, drain off all but1/4 cup water,
Add:
1/2 cup evaporated milk and mash
Add:
salt pepper and butter to taste
Instead of scratch brown gravy I make 2 pkg of brown gravy mix with 1 cup milk and 1 cup water. Cook and stir smooth...the milk makes a better tasting gravy with out the saltiness of pkg mixes. Serve with fresh green beans cooked with bacon and onion...
