    Just remember that pilaf is a cooking method and nothing else.

    Here is the ultimate rice recipe! With this simple concept you can make a million different types of pilaf.

    List of Ingredients




    This will yield you 3 - 4 servings of pilaf.


    1 c long grain rice
    1 tsp of minced garlic
    1 T minced onion
    2 T butter / more if you'd like
    1c of apple juice
    1 c of Swanson chicken broth / low sodium
    1 granny smith apple ( peeled and diced )a small dice at that about . 25 inches by . 25 inches/ put apple in water with some fresh lemon juice to keep from oxidizing
    1T ground cinnamon
    1T curry powder
    2 T sugar

    Recipe



    Mix curry, cinn, and sugar and set aside. Bring apple juice and broth to a boil in a pot. melt butter in an oven safe pot separate from liquid. toss in garlic and onion and rice. coat rice with butter. pour boiling liquid over rice. add apple. add spice mix , stir and cover. place in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done
    You may need to add more sugar and cinnamon to your personal taste but that is fine
    do not stir with anything other than a fork. This way you don't damage the rice.
    You should have all separate grains and nothing sticking together.
    This is a great side dish for pork chops done on the grill with that steak butter. Or you can have it with a chutney of your choosing. Another idea for the pork is a port wine reduction. I just serve it with rice and sauteed asparagus.

    Try this sometime when you want a filling meal that is not to unhealthy and when you are very hungry.
