    Recipe Introduction

This recipe is from the cookbook that was published by Holy Trinity Church in 1965. The recipe was from Charlotte Perec.

    List of Ingredients

    Crust:
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    1/2 c. milk or water

    Filling:
    8 medium apples
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg

    Recipe

    Crust:
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Cut in shortening. Beat egg yolks, lemon juice, and milk or water together. Stir into dry ingredients. Mix well. Divide dough into two parts. Roll one part approximately 1/3" think. Line a shallow pan (I use a cookie sheet) with dough.

    Filling:
Mix sugar, salt, flour, and spices together. Sprinkle over apples, mixing well to coat each apple slice. Spread apple filling over first layer of dough. Roll remaining dough. Place over apples and perforate with fork. Bake at 350 degrees about 1hour. Frost with thin confectionery icing while hot.
