Butterscotch Apple Crisp

Use Cortland, Northern Spy or Rome apples.
Filling:
6 cups peeled, sliced cooking apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
Topping:
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 (4-serving) package butterscotch (cook and serve) pudding mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 2-quart baking dish. For filling: In large bowl combine apples, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add milk and water; toss well. Transfer to prepared pan. For topping: In medium bowl combine flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon and pudding mix. Add butter; stir until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Bake 45 to 55 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm, with ice cream, if desired. Serves six.
