    When your heart is set on baking from scratch, but you're short on time, grab a box of cake mix, embellish with a few ingredients and indulge in a delicious, homemade dessert

    List of Ingredients




    1/4 cup light rum
    1/2 cup golden raisins
    1 (18.25-ounce) package plain spice cake mix
    1 (4-serving) package instant vanilla pudding mix
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground ginger
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    3/4 cup milk
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1/3 cup sour cream
    3 eggs
    Rum Glaze: 1 cup confectioners' sugar
    1 tbsp. light rum
    1 tsp. butter, melted

    Recipe



    Combine rum and raisins in a small glass bowl and place in microwave. Heat on high for 45 seconds. Set aside so raisins can soak in rum for 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 10-inch fluted tube pan. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, milk, vegetable oil, sour cream and eggs. Blend with electric mixer on low until moistened. Increase speed to medium and beat 2 minutes. Fold in raisins and rum until well distributed. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool before removing to wire rack. Cool completely. Drizzle with Rum Glaze. Serves 12 to 16.

    Rum Glaze
    In a bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, rum and butter. Stir in water, 1 tsp. at a time, until of drizzling consistency.
