    Soft and Spicy Treacle Gingerbread

    List of Ingredients

    250g butter, chopped
    200g soft brown sugar
    450g plain flour
    2tsp bicarbonate of soda
    1tbsn ground gigner
    1tbsn cinnamon
    1tsp allsipce
    180ml treacle
    250ml buttermilk
    2 eggs

    Recipe

    Grease a deep 23cm square tin and cover with greaseproof paper.
    Combine all ingridents in a bowl and mix until smooth.
    Spread mixture into tin and bake in a moderate slow oven (165c) for about 1 1/2 hours.
    Stand for 10 mins before turning onto a wire rack.
    Top with chocolate glace icing and glace ginger if desired.
