- 1lb of butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1tsp vanilla
- 1tsp salt
- 4 cups flour
Instructions
- Cream butter and powdered sugar. Add egg and mix well. Add salt, vanilla and flour. Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 35o degrees for 8-10 minutes, until slightly golden. Cool on rack and decorate as desired. Yield: 4-5 dozen cookies
- Cookie Icing: Combine 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar with a couple drops of vanilla or other flavoring and enough milk (2-3T) to make a firm, slightly runny icing. Color as desired.
- Chocolate Icing: Combine 4T butter, 1 1/2 cips powdered sugar and 3T cocoa powder and enough milk (2-3T) to give a smooth icing. After icing cookies, they may be sprinkled with butterscotch chips.
