List of Ingredients
- 2 Cups Shortening
- 2t Salt
- 5 Cups Masa Harina
- 4-5 Cups Cooled Broth
- Filling
- 4lb Pork Roast
- 6 C up Water
- 8-10T Red Chili Powder
- 1 Cup Broth
- 1/8t Oregano
- 1/4t Cumin
- 2-3 Cloves Garlic
- Salt to Taste
Instructions
- Cook pork roast and 6 cups of water in crockpot, until the roast falls apart in shreds. Remove meat from pot.
- In blender combine 1 1/2 cups broth with the chili powder,garlic, oregano and cumin.
- Mix meat and chili mixture and cook on stove until the extra juice has evaporated.
- To prepare Tamales, Soak corn husks. Or better yet, use the parchement papers now found in stores.
- Place 2T of masa in husk or paper and spread evenly. Down center of masa place 1T of meat mixture. Fold tamales and steam for 40 minutes.
