    Lemonade Syrup

    List of Ingredients




    1 1/2 C. sugar
    1 1/2 C. water
    finely grated peel of 1 lemon
    1 1/2 C fresh lemon juice
    ice cubes
    cold water
    lemon slices

    Recipe



    Measure the sugar, water, and finely grated peel and place into a saucepan. While stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, bring the mixture to a boil, and boil for 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the stove and let the mixture cool. Squeeze 1 1/2 C. lemon juice and add it to the cooled sugar and water mixture. Pour the lemonade syrup into a 1 quart jar that can be covered with a lid.
    When you are ready to serve the lemonade, put two ice cubes in the bottom of each glass. Pour 1/4 cup lemonade over the ice cubes. Add 3/4 cup of water and stir. Float a lemon slice in the top of each glass.
    This makes enough for 14 glasses.
