    Overnight Fresh Lemonade

    6 large lemons
    1 cup granulated sugar (more to taste)
    5 cups boiling water
    2 empty gallon milk or water containers (cleaned*)

    Recipe



    First scrub the lemons in warm water, then zest 3 of
    the outer lemon rinds using a potato peeler or zester.
    After that any white pith will need to be pared from
    the strips of zest with a sharp knife (to prevent the
    lemonade tasting bitter). Now put the zest in a large
    bowl and add the squeezed juice of all the lemons and
    the sugar. Pour in boiling water and then stir well.
    Cover and leave overnight in a cool place. Next day
    stir again and taste to check the sweetness, adding a
    little more sugar if it needs it. Now strain into
    containers and chill thoroughly. You can serve the
    lemonade straight up over plenty of ice of dilute it
    with some soda water.
    Yield: 1 1/2 Gal.
    * After washing containers in hot soapy water, fill them with water and 1 t bleach and allow them to stand 24 hours.
    They will be sanitized with no bleach taste.
