Banana Cream Cake

2 C all-purpose Flour
1 1/3 C granulated Sugar
1 1/2 t Baking Powder
1 t Baking Soda
1/2 t Salt
1/2 t ground Nutmeg
1C mashed ripe Bananas
1/2 C Shortening
1/4 C Milk
1 t Vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 C finely chopped Walnuts
1 (8 oz) carton dairy Sour Cream
1/3 C packed Brown Sugar
1/4 C broken Walnuts
Recipe
Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg. Add banana, shortening, milk and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined. Add eggs and beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in 1/2 C walnuts.
Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted comes out clean.
Meanwhile, for frosting, in a small bowl stir together sour cream and brown sugar. Spoon evenly over warm cake in pan. Sprinkle with broken walnuts. Bake about 5 minutes more or until frosting is set. Cool cake in pan on a wire rack. Chill in refrigerator if not using within 2 hours.
