    Apple Slices

    List of Ingredients




    3 C. flour
    1 1/2 T. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 C. lard
    1 egg
    scant C. milk

    Filling:
    1/2 C. crushed corn flakes
    8 C. sliced apples
    1 C. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon

    Glaze:
    1/2 C. powdered sugar
    1 T. butter
    1 T. water

    Recipe





    Mix flour, 1 1/2 T. sugar and salt together. Cut in 1 C. lard.
    Add egg and milk together to make 1 C. Add milk mixture a bit at a time to make dough that is soft, but not sticky.
    May not need entire cupful to reach this stage.
    Divide dough into two parts, one half larger than the other.
    Use the large half of dough to roll out into a bottom crust for a 10x15-inch pan (Cookie Sheet).
    Layer filling ingredients on crust: 1/2 C. crushed corn flakes, layer of apples, cover with 1 C. sugar mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon.
    Roll out top crust and place it on top. Pinch edges of crust together and cut steam escapes.
    Sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon and sugar.
    After baking, mix together powdered sugar, soft butter and coffee or water. Top pastry with icing while warm.
