1 medium-size carrot, sliced
1 small onion, diced
1 chicken-flavor bouillon cube
or envelope
¾ C barley
4 T butter, cut up
¼ t salt

ABOUT 2 ½ HOURS BEFORE SERVING:
In 2-quart casserole, mix all ingredients. Cover; bake in 350° F oven 2 hours, stirring often. Makes 8 accompaniment servings.
