Recipe Introduction
This is a Austrian/Hungarian Recipe that my Grandmother brought with her when she traveled from her Home in Austria/Hungry and came to the United States
List of Ingredients
- 3 quarts of Green Beans
- 3 quarts of Yellow Wax Beans
- 1 pound bacon
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 cup vinegar
Instructions
- Place the beans into a large pot and add the vinegar. Allow to heat on a low temperature until the rest of the ingreadients are ready
- Chop the bacon into bite size pieces and fry until crisp. The bacon needs to be crisp because it will become less crisp when placed into the beans
- When the bacon is cooked add the flour to the bacon and bacon grease and make a rou. You can add more if needed
- Add to the beans a cook on a medium heat until the beans have a thick gravy
Final Comments
For a quick and easy meal make boiled or mashed potatoes and rolls with the sour beans. Or use as a side dish for your Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or other Holiday meal.
