Recipe Introduction
This recipe is similar to the one I remember my Mom making when I was a kid.
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 t. salt
- 1/2 t. garlic salt
- 1/2 t. pepper
- 2 lbs. round steak, cut in serving size pieces
- 3 T. canola oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 1 c. beef broth
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Combine flour, salt, pepper and garlic salt in plastic bag.
- Add meat and shake well until beef is well coated.
- Pound beef with mallet to tenderize.
- Brown beef in oil.
- Add garlic, green pepper, celery and onion to skillet. Cook and stir for 10 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir all together.
- Pour into oven-proof casserole dish. Cover.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours.
- Remove from oven.
- Combine 1/4 c. water and 2 T. flour together.
- Add to meat mixture and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until bubbly and thickened.
- Serve with cooked potatoes.
