I like to put this in a gift basket with: Beer Bread Mix, Cornbread Mix or Corn Fritters and Cajun Nuts or Whole Roasted Walnuts. (I am in the process of adding these to the files also.)


List of Ingredients




1 c split peas, divided
1/2 c. lentils
1/2 c red lentils*

*This recipe calls for 1 c. split peas and 1 c. lentils; divide that quantity among several colors if you can find them. If not, just use gree split peas and brown lentils. I can usually find various colors at health food stores or larger grocery stores.

Seasoning Packet:
1 Tbls. dried parsley flakes
1 tsp. dried minced garlic
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. sage
1/2 tsp. garlic powder


Recipe



Make and attach the following recipe as an attractive tag:

LENTIL SOUP
1. Empty jar into a colander, pick over peas and rinse well.
2. Place in a large pan with & cups water.
3. Bring to a boil. Lowerheat, cover and simmer
1 hour, stirring occasionally. For a thicker
soup,remove cover for the last 15 minutes.

Tasty option: Add 1 lb. chopped ham.
