    Auntie Mannie's Divinity Fudge

    Recipe Introduction

Marion Anderson, Known as Auntie Mannie, had a favorite recipe to make for family and friends, Divinity Fudge. I copied this from a hand written recipe book which she had made from an old School notebook, making some clarifications to the instructions so that my neices will be able to follow this recipe!

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 Cups Sugar
    • 1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
    • 3 TBS Water
    • 2 Egg Whites
    • 1 Tsp Vanilla
    • 1 Cup coursely chopped Walnuts

    Instructions

    1. Put sugar, syrup and water into a saucepan. Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the saucepan. Cook until thermometer reaches 240 degrees.

    2. Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Pour syrup slowly over the egg white, beating until creamy.

    3. Add nuts and vanilla.

    4. Spread into an 8' square buttered pan and cut into squares. (or drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper)

    5. Makes about 1 pound.
