Shirley's Baked Beans
My Mother, Shirley Ronnie, has always made the best baked beans and has always made them from scratch. A Bar-B-Que or camping trip would not be complete without them.
List of Ingredients
- 1 pound Great Northern Dry Beans
- 1 chopped onion
- 3/4 - 1 package dark brown sugar
- 2 - 3 slices bacon
Instructions
- Soak beans with a little salt in large pot of water overnight. (make sure water covers beans)
- In the morning, add more water and the onion. Simmer for 3 - 4 hours until beans are tender.
- Add the brown sugar to taste. Put beans into casserole dish(s). Top with cut up bacon.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 3 - 4 hours. Add water, if necessary during baking.
