    Texas Hash

    This is a great recipe from Marvel Sanders of Morgantown, IN. I have listed her ingredients as they were referred to "back then" and in parethensis the current terminology.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 lb. hamburger
    • 2 onions, chopped
    • 2 mangos chopped (green peppers)
    • 3 tablespoons Spry (shortening)
    • 1 large can tomatoes (juice included)
    • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
    • salt, pepper to taste
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder


    Instructions


    1. Fry the onions and mango (peppers) in the Spry (shortening) until soft.
    2. Add the hamburger and brown. Drain only slightly
    3. Add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, chili powder and rice.
    4. Put into a covered baking dish and bake for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
    5. Serve with crackers.
