Texas Hash
This is a great recipe from Marvel Sanders of Morgantown, IN. I have listed her ingredients as they were referred to "back then" and in parethensis the current terminology.
List of Ingredients
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 mangos chopped (green peppers)
- 3 tablespoons Spry (shortening)
- 1 large can tomatoes (juice included)
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- salt, pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
Instructions
- Fry the onions and mango (peppers) in the Spry (shortening) until soft.
- Add the hamburger and brown. Drain only slightly
- Add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, chili powder and rice.
- Put into a covered baking dish and bake for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
- Serve with crackers.
