Red Velvet Cake

List of Ingredients
1-1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Crushed pecans, for garnish Recipe
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a cake pan.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. In another bowl, whisk together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla.
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients to make a smooth batter.
Pour into the pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, about 30 minutes.
When the pan is cool enough to handle, invert onto a plate. Once it’s completely cool, frost and decorate with pecan sprinkles.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 T butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine everything in a mixing bowl and whip until smooth.
