    Applets

Some years ago, someone brought me some Applets from the state of Washington. i loved them. So when I found this recipe, I made it immediately, and yes, they are the same, or at least close to the same.

    2 cups tart applesauce
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    2 cups sugar
    2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
    1/2 cup cold water
    1 1/2 cup chopped nuts
    powdered sugar.

Use canned applesauce or use Jonathan or Winesap apples to make sauce.
Strain sauce to make very smooth. Add spices and sugar, stir until dissolved.
Butter an 8x8x 2 inch pan.
Soak gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes. Dissolve gelatin over low heat.
Add softened gelatin to apple mixture, and mix very well.
    Stir in the nuts.
Pour into buttered pan. Chill. Cut into small squares and roll in powdered sugar.
