Bachelor Buttons
This recipe is more than 60 years old and a Blue Ribbon winner for me, at the County Fair
List of Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg,1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 pound pecan halves
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add egg and mix well
- In a separate bowl, put the soda, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg, stir well with a whisk, or sift.
- Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture. Mix well.
- Cool dough in refrigerator for 30 minutes
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Make small balls of cookie dough,1 scant teaspoon. (They are to be bite size.)
- Put on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 1/2 inch apart.
- Press pecan half into the top of each cookie
- Bake for about 10 minutes, until barely brown around the edges.
- Cool on wire rack.
Final Comments
Store in air tight container.
