    List of Ingredients


    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
    • 1 cup buckwheat groats (Kasha)
    • 2 tablespoon schmaltz, or butter
    • 2 cups boiling water
    • 2 cups bowknot pasta, cooked


    Instructions


    1. Mix lightly beaten egg with groats, let stand several minutes to dry.

    2. Add boiling water and schmaltz.
    3. Cover tightly and cook until kasha is tender about 15 minutes.
    4. Stir occasionally and add more water to keep mixture from sticking
    5. Mix kasha with cooked bowknots
    6. Serve piping hot
