Ginger Cheese Salad Bowl
Recipe Introduction
Your guests will always remember this salad. It is probably the most popular item of food that I have ever prepared. Goes especially well with curries or ginger beef.
List of Ingredients
- 1 cup salad oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons dry sherry
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon wine vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 8 cups coarsely torn and loosely measured Boston, or Bib lettuce
- 3 ounce cream cheese
- 4 teaspoons grated orange peel
- 1/3 cup slivered almonds, lightly toasted
Instructions
- Shake together, or beat with a fork the first 7 ingredients
- Press all sides of the cream cheese into grated orange peel until peel adheres;cut into 1/2 inch cubes.
- Arrange greens in a large bowl. Arrange grapes, cheese and almonds in separate sections, over the top.
- At table pour on just enough dressing to moisten and toss lightly.
Final Comments
It is very important that one use soft lettuce. This salad does not work with any other. Sit back and wait for the raves.
