Crusty Cornbread

1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
1 tbls baking soda
1 tbls baking powder
1 beaten egg
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup bacon drippings
Combine first six ingredients. Mix well. Add egg and buttermilk. Stir until
smooth. Place bacon drippings in 9 inch cast iron skillet.
Heat @ 425 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove skillet from oven, pour hot droppings into batter.
Mix well. Quickly pour batter into skillet. Bake @ 425 degrees 20-25 minutes or until
golden.
