3 cups white sugar
2/3 cup corn syrup
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
Recipe
Stir ingredients over medium heat until it forms a hard mass in cold water. The mass should tinkle loudly when tapped against the upper edge of the container of water. Meanwhile, beat stiffly 2 large or 3 small egg whites. Gradually pour cooked syrup over egg whites beating cnstantly. When mixture begins to thicken, add 1/3 cup chopped nuts and 1 tsp vanilla. Add cherries (optional).
When mixture will hold shape, drop by spoonfuls on buttered or wax paper lines cookie sheet.
