2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup margarine -- softened
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 cup chopped almonds
1 cup chopped -- pitted dates or prun
Recipe
Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, combine all ingredients except almonds and dates or prunes; blend at low speed until well mixed and dough forms. By hand, stir in almonds and prunes or dates. Shape into 1" balls; place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown around edges. Cool cookies 1 minute before removing from cookie sheets.
