1 1/4 cup sall purpose flour 300 ml
2/3 cup packed brown sugar divided 150 ml
3/4 cup cold butter or margarine 175 ml
1 egg 1
1/2 tsp salt 2 ml
1 1/2 cups salted mixed nuts 375 ml
1 1/2 cups halved green and red 375 ml
candied cherries
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 250 ml
Recipe
Method: In a bowl, combine flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles course crumbs. Press into a lightly greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350F or 175C for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in mixing bowl, beat egg, add salt and remaining brown sugar. Stir in nuts, cherries and chocolate chips. Spoon evenly over crust. Bake at 350F or 175C for 20 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars.
