3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown shugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups Quaker Oats, Quick or Old fashioned
1 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Recipe
Heat oven to 350º
Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Combine dry ingredients and add to above, mix thoroughly. Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for about 11-13 minutes. Allow to cool on wire racks, store in tightly sealed container.
(Note: you may wish to add any of the following...chopped walnuts, flaked coconut, chocolat chips,raisins.)
