    Pea Soup

    Recipe Introduction

    I must admit I make the best Pea soup I have ever had mind you I haven't tasted many other peoples pea soup. This is delicious and so good with bisquits I freeze this soup or it will keep in the fridge for several days.

    List of Ingredients

    2 tbsp oil
    1 chopped onion
    2 stalks celery chopped
    3 carrots grated
    1 ham bone with meat on it.
    2 to 3 cups ham removed from ham bone
    4 bay leaves
    4 L water
    500 g green split peas
    1 tsp thyme

    Salt and pepper. to taste
    In lg soup pot heat water add ham bone cook till meat falls off the bone about 3 hours or more.
    Remove ham bone.
    Add peas,oil, shredded carrots onions celery and meat to pot. add thyme bay leaves and season with salt and pepper. Cook simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or till peas ate mushy and soup is thick.

    Recipe

    In lg soup pot heat oil brown celery onion add water and ham bone cook till meat falls off bone. 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
    Remove bone cut up meat to bite size.
    Add peas, carrots thyme bay leaves. and season to taste with salt and pepper.
    Cook and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or till peas are mushy and soup is thickened.
