    List of Ingredients


    • 1 Cup self rising flour
    • 3 Cups white cream corn meal
    • 3 t. baking powder
    • 3/4 t. salt


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 450º. Stir all ingredients together and add just enough hot water to make a stiff dough. Divide dough in half.

    2. With hands, form two 1 1/2 " high loaf cakes.

    3. Pour cooking oil 1/4 inch deep in iron skillet and heat until hot.

    4. Carefully place cakes in frying pan and brown on top of stove. Spoon oil over tops and place in preheated oven for 20 minutes.

    5. Turn cakes over and bake for about 10 minutes longer. Until brown.Remove cornbread from pan and place on paper towels to drain.
