List of Ingredients
- 1 Cup self rising flour
- 3 Cups white cream corn meal
- 3 t. baking powder
- 3/4 t. salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450º. Stir all ingredients together and add just enough hot water to make a stiff dough. Divide dough in half.
- With hands, form two 1 1/2 " high loaf cakes.
- Pour cooking oil 1/4 inch deep in iron skillet and heat until hot.
- Carefully place cakes in frying pan and brown on top of stove. Spoon oil over tops and place in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Turn cakes over and bake for about 10 minutes longer. Until brown.Remove cornbread from pan and place on paper towels to drain.
