White Cake Icing

List of Ingredients
- 3-3/4 cups sugar
- 1-1/8 cups water
- 6 T. light Karo syrup
- 4 egg whites
- 1-1/2 T. vanilla flavoring
Instructions
- In saucepan, stir ingredients and bring to boil and turn heat down to medium. Cook until "fine thread stage, when poured from spoon it forms a fine thread".
- In mixer, beat 4 large egg whites until stiff. Slowly pour syrup over whites while beating. Beat well. Add vanilla and beat well.
- Recipe frosts 3 9" layers.
- For coconut cake, cover frosting with angel flake coconut. Place marachino cherries on top around cake.
