    You can use your favorite dried beans or mixed beans for this soup. Serve with cornbread or crackers.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 8 0z. pkg. northern beans
    • Ham, ham bone, smoked pork or smoked turkey bones to season
    • Salt
    • Pepper


    Instructions


    1. Soak beans over night with 1/2 t. baking soda. Pour water off and rinse beans in collander.
    2. Place in crock pot with smoked bones or ham for seasoning. Add water to about 2 inches above beans; add salt and pepper.
    3. Cook on high for about 5 hours or cook on low for about 8 hours. If needed, add more salt and pepper or water. Stir occasionally.
