Recipe Introduction
This is a quick and easy recipe that is very filling. My Step mom, Sarah used to cook this when my sister and I were kids, and we loved it. It’s a good way to get children to eat their vegetables.
List of Ingredients
1 to 1 ½ lbs – Hamburger meat
1 – Medium onion (Chopped)
1 tbs – Salt
½ tbs – Pepper
1 tbs – garlic powder
1 – Can of corn
1 – Can of green beans
1 box – Instant mashed potatoes (I like the 4 cheese or the garlic kind)
10 Slices – Of cheese (I use American, but you can use any kind you like or even shredded cheese.)
Recipe
1- Preheat oven to 350
2- Add meat, onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to a frying pan and cook until meat is done
3- Meanwhile, using the instructions on the side of the instant mashed potato box, cook both packets then set potatoes aside
4- When meat is cooked all the way through, drain grease completely then put the meat in the bottom of a cake pan, and level it out so that it is as even as possible.
5- Open the can of corn and green beans and drain them completely, then sprinkle both cans on the meat as evenly as possible
6- Next using a spoon, spoon out heaping spoon fulls of the mashed potatoes and put on top of the corn and green beans. When all the potatoes have been spooned out, take a rubber spatula or butter knife and smooth the potatoes out until they are as even as possible
7- Next cover the top with the cheese of your choice
8- Put in oven and cook for 15 to 20 minutes
9- All the ingredients has been cooked at this stage, you just need to heat it all up to the same temperature and melt the cheese
10- When it’s done cooking, remove it from oven and cut it using a spatulas so that you can get square pieces.
*** Hint ***
You can use any kind of veggies you like in this dish, I have even used ground turkey, and ground deer in place of the hamburger meat, so what ever you happen to have on hand will work. Also you can use homemade mashed potatoes if you like, in place of the instant.
