1 - Cut the tip off of one end of the onion and take off the outer pealing and outer layer
2 – Cut the onion in half all the way down to the other end, but do not cut through the bottom. (The onion needs to stay intact.) Then turn the onion and do make the same cut so that you have made a cross cut only on one end
3 – Break off a piece of aluminum foil big enough to wrap the entire onion in, and set the onion in the center of it
4 – Open the onion up, but not too far where it will break off the pedals. Separate the pedals the best you can
5 – Stuff the butter down in the onion then sprinkle the garlic powder on top of the butter
6 – Wrap the onion up tightly in the aluminum foil
7 – Place the onion on the BBQ grill while the meat is cooking. (It usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Occasionally pull the onion out and check it to see if it’s done. The pedals will look transparent and be tender.
***Hint***
You can use any kind of season’s you like, and I have made this onion in the oven, if we were not grilling.
