    Butterscotch Squares

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups sugar
    2/3 cup light corn syrup
    1/3 cup water
    1 tablespoon vinegar
    1/2 cup butter, cut into 8 pieces

    Recipe



    Grease an 11x7x2" baking pan, set aside.

    Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and vinegar in a saucepan. Cook over med-high heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is completely dissolves, brushing down sides of pan frequently with brush. heat to boiling; reduce het to low. Cook until mixture reaches 300º-310º on candy thermometer, 17-20 minutes.

    Remove mixture from heat; add butter. Stir quickly just until butter melts in and the mixture is blended.

    Pour into prepared baking pan. Cool about 10-15 minutes; mark top of candy into squares, being careful not to cut all the way through. Cool completely. Remove candy from pan and break into squares.

    Makes about 5 dozen pieces of butterscotch.
