    Strawberry Brownie Torte

    Source of Recipe

    Posted by Mary Ellen

    List of Ingredients

1 (about 20-ounce) package brownie mix

Oil and eggs as called for on the mix - to make "cake-like" brownies (typically 1/2 cup oil and 3 eggs)

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk, such as Eagle brand

    1/2 cup cold water

1 (3.4-ounce) (4-serving size) package instant vanilla pudding mix

1 1/2 cups (about half of an 8-ounce tub) regular or fat-free nondairy whipped topping, thawed

1 quart fresh strawberries, cleaned and hulled - half sliced, half halved

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans, line bottoms and sides with foil and grease the foil.

Prepare the brownie mix as directed on the package for "cake-like" brownies; pour into prepared pans. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. Cool in pans.

In the large bowl of an electric mixer, combine the sweetened condensed milk and the cold water. Beat in the pudding mix and beat 1 minute at medium speed. Chill 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, remove the brownie layers from the pans and peel off the foil.

Fold whipped topping into pudding mixture; don't overmix. Place one brownie layer on serving plate. Top with half the filling, then the sliced strawberries. Top with the other brownie layer, then the remaining filling, then the halved strawberries. Refrigerate until serving time.
