    Master Butter Cookie Dough

    Source: WD Holiday Cookies This recipe provides enough dough to make two variations of cookies. If you want to make one batch of cookies, freeze the unused half of the Master Dough for another time.

    List of Ingredients

    Servings: Makes 12 to 20 dozen

    2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened slightly
    1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    3 large egg yolks
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

    Recipe

    Fit a heavy-duty electric mixer with paddle attachment. In large bowl, with mixer at high speed, cream butter, sugar and salt. Add egg yolks and vanilla; beat until smooth. At low speed, gradually add flour, beating just until incorporated. (Or, fit food processor with steel blade. In food processor bowl with 11 cups or more capacity, process flour, butter, sugar and salt until mixture is crumbly. Add yolks and vanilla; blend, scraping bowl occasionally, until dough comes together.)
