1/2 cup margarine
2 cups unsalted pretzels
2 cups spoon-size shredded wheat, or any salt free cereal
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups puffed rice
2 cups unsalted peanuts or walnuts, pecans or a mixture of nuts.
Recipe
Melt margarine in skillet. Add garlic powder. Stir. Add remaining ingredients and toss together. Makes 2 quarts.
Oven instructions: preheat oven to 250º. Bake party mix a total of 45 minutes. Stir twice during that time period.
Note: One cup raisins may also be added, but omit the garlic powder.
Nutritive Value: 1/4 cup serving: fat 5gm, protein 1gm, carbohydrates 7gm, sodium 36gm, calories 72.
Diabetic exchange: 1 1/2 bread, 1/2 fat.
