Greek-Style Mushrooms

1 pound small mushrooms
1/2 cup olive or vegetable oil
1/4 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1 clove garlic -- crushed
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
Wipe mushrooms with a damp cloth. Set aside in a large heat-proof bowl. In a small saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Bring to boil over medium heat; simmer about 2 minutes. Immediately, pour over mushrooms. Cover and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate 6 hours or overnight. Serve with wooden picks.
Makes 65 to 70 appetizers and will serve 32 people if they have two appetizers each.
