This is a delicious appetizer! Asiago cheese is an Italian cheese made from cow's milk with a real nutty flavor. It is excellent for grating. If it is not available in your market, substitute Parmesan cheese.

Asiago Cheddar Cheese Bread

1/2 cup shredded Asiago cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup minced chives or
1/4 cup green onion
1 egg -- beaten
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
salt
freshly ground white pepper
2 french bread slices -- thick
Combine cheese, chives, egg and hot pepper sauce in bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Arrange bread halves on baking sheet. Carefully top each slice with half the cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F. degrees until cheese is melted and bread is crusty, 10 to 12 minutes. Serve immediately. Serves 2.
