    Green Chili Hots

    Recipe By : Anita Borghese
    Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time :0:00
    Categories : Appetizers

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 loaf French or Italian bread
    1 can jalapeno chilies or
    other type of chilies
    1 stick butter or margarine
1 small garlic clove -- minced
1/4 cup pitted green olives -- finely
    - chopped
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese -- grated

Preheat broiler with shelf about 7 inches from heat. Slice bread 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick and toast on one side. Remove as many seeds from the chilies as you wish--the more seeds, the hotter the sandwiches. If you remove all the seeds they won't be hot at all.

Chop the chilies finely. Soften butter or margarine and blend with the chilies. Add garlic and olives. Spread on untoasted side of bread. Blend mayonnaise and cheese and spread over the chili mixture. Arrange on baking sheet and broil until bubbly and lightly browned. Serve immediately.

This makes approximately 2 dozen little appetizers.
