Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter -- softened
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
In small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips, stirring constantly until smooth. In large bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar and margarine; beat until light and fluffy. Add sour cream, vanilla, egg and melted chocolate chips; blend well.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking powder and baking soda to dough; blend well. Stir in remaining 1 cup unmelted chocolate chips.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 7 to 10 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
