8 ounces boneless beef sirloin steak
1/2 cup dairy sour cream or plain yogurt
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
1 small onion -- sliced and
-- separated into rings
1 cup fresh mushrooms -- sliced
1 garlic clove -- minced
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
3 cups hot cooked noodles
Trim fat from beef. Partially freeze beef for 30 minutes. Thinly slice across the grain into bite-size strips. Set aside.
For sauce, in a bowl stir together the sour cream or yogurt, flour, tomato paste, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, bouillon granules, caraway seed, and 1/3 cup water. Set aside.
In a large skillet, cook and stir the beef, onion, mushrooms, and garlic in hot margarine or butter till meat is of desired doneness and vegetables are tender. Add the sauce. Cook and stir over medium heat till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Serve over hot cooked noodles.
